How to use this Help

Highlights of Bluejay

Bluejay is a web browser tailored to the display of biological data in a graphical format.  The data must be formatted in a web standard called XML.  The XML structure allows the user to easily see the hierarchy of the data, and if the data is not already XML, Bluejay will attempt to create that format for the user.  The user can customize the view of the data (e.g. one or more genomes) easily, chaning orientations, angles, zoom, and types of features shown.  Bluejay will provide a graphical means of exploring biological data and formulating queries such as "find me this kind or structure in other organisms".  The user can also export the graphics in SVG, a web standard for press-quality images, suitable for printing or manipulation in CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator.

(Bio)Moby Services Feature

Bluejay can augment data records, because it acts as a client for the BioMOBY protocol.  BioMOBY allows end users to discover analysis services available on the Web for a given piece of data.  Bluejay provides default mappings from various XML data to MOBY service input objects, and can handle MOBY Objects themselves, allowing the user to dig deeper into their data by automatically hyperlinking (at runtime) viewed XML data to further analysis on remote servers.
